The Messaging feature allows for direct, streamlined communication between administrators, teachers, and parents within the platform. As an administrator, you have full access to all inboxes and messaging capabilities across classrooms.
Navigating Your Inbox
When you click on Messages, you’ll see:
-
Your personal inbox
-
Access to each classroom’s inbox
Note: To view a specific classroom’s messages, simply select that classroom role from the dropdown menu in the upper right corner. This allows you to monitor and participate in any classroom conversation as needed.
Reading and Responding to Messages
Messages are displayed in a threaded conversation format, similar to other messaging or chat apps. For example, if a parent sends a message to inform you that their child has been diagnosed with an illness, you’ll see the message in your inbox and can reply directly from the same thread.
Note: Any message sent to a classroom is visible to all teachers assigned to that classroom.
Sending a New Message
As an administrator, you can send messages to:
- The entire school
- A specific classroom
-
All staff (school-wide or classroom-specific)
-
Individual parents, teachers, or administrators
-
Parents of a specific student
Example: Sending a Message to the Whole School
When sending a school-wide message (e.g., an announcement about an early release day), you can:
-
Draft your message
-
Select “Entire School” as the recipient
-
Option to disable comments to prevent reply-all responses from parents
Why Disable Comments?
Disabling comments helps avoid overwhelming everyone with reply-all messages—especially helpful when sending messages to large groups.
Parents will still be able to send a new message to you directly if they have questions, even with comments disabled.
Messaging Permissions by Role
| Role | Can Message |
| Administrator | Anyone (staff, parents, classrooms) |
|
Teacher |
Parents of students in their class, and administrators |
| Parent | Their child's teachers and school administrators |
All participants can message back within the permissions described above.
Conclusion
The messaging feature is a robust communication tool designed to:
-
Keep all members of your school community informed
-
Respect appropriate privacy boundaries
-
Reduce inbox noise through options like disabling replies
By using classroom-specific or school-wide messages appropriately, administrators can communicate effectively while maintaining clarity and control.
