✉️ How to Retract (delete) a Sent Message in Montessori Compass
Did you send a message and realize it had a mistake? No worries—we've got you covered!
The Retract Message feature in Montessori Compass allows Admin and Teacher users to permanently delete a message—even after it has been delivered or read by parents/guardians or other staff members.
This is especially helpful if:
- You sent the message to the wrong group/individual
- You included incorrect information
- You changed your mind about sharing the message
What Happens When You Retract a Message?
When you retract a message:
- The message is permanently deleted from the system.
- Recipients will no longer see it in their inbox—even if they had already read it.
- It’s as if the message was never sent.
⚠️ Important: Retracted messages are deleted for all users and cannot be restored. Use this feature with care!
? Step-by-Step: How to Retract a Message
- Go to the Messages section
From the left-side menu, click Messages under the "Communication" category. - Select your message
Choose the message you'd like to retract from your inbox. - Click the three dots (•••)
You'll find this in the top-right corner of the message pane. - Select “Retract” from the dropdown menu.
- Confirm your choice
A confirmation box will appear letting you know this action cannot be undone. Click Yes to retract the message.
? Who Can Use This Feature?
Only staff users with permission to send messages (Admins and Teachers) can retract messages they've sent. Parents/Guardians can not retract messages.
Parents who receive messages via the Classroom Share mobile app will no longer see a retracted message in their inbox—even if they already opened it.
? Tip
If you want to remove a message from your own inbox for organizational purposes but keep it visible to others, use the Archive option instead.
