Understanding Parent/Guardian Profiles in Montessori Compass 2.0
Montessori Compass 2.0 introduces a more flexible and modern approach to managing parent/guardian profiles—especially helpful for families and staff members connected to multiple schools.
What’s New in 2.0?
In Montessori Compass 1.0, parent/guardian accounts were tied exclusively to a single school. Each email address could only be linked to one school account. While this gave schools full control over parent/guardian profiles, it also introduced several limitations:
- Parents/guardians with children attending different schools couldn’t use the same email address.
- Families who moved to a new school using Montessori Compass couldn’t carry over their login.
- Staff members with children enrolled at another Montessori Compass school couldn’t manage both roles easily.
To address these challenges, Montessori Compass 2.0 introduces multi-school user support—giving users more flexibility while still allowing schools to control what’s shared with them.
Key Changes to Parent/Guardian Profiles
✅ Shared User Accounts Across Schools
Parents/guardians (and staff members) can now be associated with multiple schools using the same email address.
This is ideal for:
- Families with children enrolled at more than one Montessori Compass school
- Staff who also act as parents/guardians in the system
🔐 School-Controlled Access
Your school controls what each parent/guardian can access—such as student profiles, activity reports, and classroom updates.
Access can be granted or revoked at any time from the admin dashboard.
👤 Parent/Guardian-Managed Contact Information
Parents/guardians manage their own contact details, including email address, phone number, and physical address—ensuring their information is always up to date.
As a school admin, you’ll be able to view this contact information, but you cannot create or edit it in the parent/guardian profile.
If you'd like to maintain editable contact info for internal use, you can:
- Add it directly to the student profile
- Use the Montessori Growth Suite, which includes a full-featured CRM for robust contact management
How Parent/Guardian Invitations Work
When you add a parent/guardian to your school account, they will appear under the Pending Invitations tab. This gives you full control over when invitations are sent and allows you to:
- Keep internal records up to date
- Prepare parent/guardian accounts in advance
- Control the timing of welcome emails and access
