What Happens When a Student Leaves Mid-Year?

Managing Student Departures

Students sometimes leave mid-year — for family moves, transitions to other schools, or other reasons. Montessori Compass makes it easy to handle these situations without losing any historical data.

How It Works

  • Archive, don't delete — When a student leaves, you update their status to inactive/archived rather than deleting their record. All observations, lesson history, and progress data are preserved.
  • No charge for archived students — Once a student is archived, they no longer count toward your active student billing. Your subscription cost adjusts accordingly.
  • Records retained indefinitely — Archived student records are kept in your account at no cost for as long as you're a subscriber. There's no pressure to delete historical records.

If a Student Returns

If a student re-enrolls, you can reactivate their profile and their full history will be right where you left it.
