In Montessori Compass 2.0, students can easily be reassigned to different classrooms or enrolled in multiple classrooms at the same time. This flexibility supports transitions, afterschool programs, and special groupings like beforecare and aftercare.
Moving Students to a New Classroom
To move students from one classroom to another:
-
Navigate to the Classrooms section.
-
Click on the classroom name or where it says No Students next to the class you want to update.
-
You will be taken to the Student Roster for that classroom.
-
You’ll see a list of students currently enrolled in the classroom and a list of students not currently enrolled in the class.
-
-
Expand the "not currently enrolled" list and select the students you'd like to move.
-
For example, select Kindergarten students transitioning from Primary to Lower Elementary.
-
-
Click Add to assign the selected students to the new classroom.
Note: This does not remove them from their original classroom—you can assign them to multiple classrooms if needed.
Assigning Students to Multiple Classrooms
Students can be enrolled in more than one classroom at a time. This is helpful for:
-
Transitioning students between levels (e.g., end-of-year move from Primary to Lower Elementary)
-
Attendance tracking in beforecare/aftercare
-
Special programs or groups
To assign a student to an additional classroom, follow the same steps above and simply add them to the new class without removing them from the original one.
Removing Students from a Classroom
When you’re ready to complete the move:
-
Go to the original classroom (e.g., Primary).
-
Open the student roster.
-
Select the students you want to remove.
-
Click Remove.
This will unenroll the students from that classroom while keeping them assigned to their new class.
