Edit or delete a recorded lesson, tracker, or observation
Summary: Once you have recorded an entry, you can edit or delete it from the Activities page. Click the Activities button at the top of the screen, find the entry, and use its Edit or Delete button. Editing lets you change the date, elements, assessment, notes, and the "Shared with parents" visibility, but not the student name, the lesson name, or the photo. If you need to change one of those locked fields, delete the entry and create a new one. Deleting asks you to confirm, then removes the entry.
Who can do this
Any teacher can edit or delete the entries recorded for the children in their classroom. No special role is required.
Step-by-step
- Open the Activities page. Click the Activities button at the top of the screen.
- Find the entry. Locate the entry you want to change. Each entry has its own Edit and Delete buttons.
- To edit, click Edit. The entry opens so you can change it. You can update the date, the notes, the "Shared with parents" visibility, and (on a lesson) the elements and assessment. See "What you can and cannot edit" below.
- To delete, click Delete. Click Delete on the entry, then confirm that you want to delete it. Once confirmed, the entry is removed.
What you can and cannot edit
Editing an entry lets you fix most details, but a few fields are locked once the entry exists. On a recorded lesson:
- You can edit the date, the elements, the assessment, the notes, and the Visibility "Shared with parents" toggle.
- You cannot edit the student name, the lesson name, or the photo. If a photo was included, you cannot add or remove a photo from the entry at this point.
The student name is locked on every kind of entry, not just lessons.
How to change a locked field
If you need to change something you cannot edit (the student name, the lesson name, or the photo), the path is to delete the entry and create a new one with the correct details. There is no way to edit those fields in place.
How deleting works
Deleting is a two-step action by design, so you do not remove an entry by accident. When you click Delete, you are asked to confirm. Only after you confirm is the entry removed. A deleted entry is gone from the activities feed, so if you only meant to fix a detail, edit the entry instead of deleting it.
A few things worth knowing
- The date is editable, so you can correct an entry that was recorded under the wrong day.
- A wrong student or lesson, or a wrong photo, cannot be edited, so delete and re-record instead.
- Deletion always asks for confirmation, so a single accidental click will not remove an entry.
