Standards Mapping in Montessori Compass 2.0

Modified on Wed, Apr 8 at 4:09 PM

Montessori Compass offers a powerful way to align Montessori lessons with state and national education standards—while maintaining the integrity of authentic Montessori practice.

The Standards Mapping feature is currently in development and will be available in Montessori Compass 2.0 by Spring 2026.

? What Is Standards Mapping?

This feature connects specific Montessori lessons from the Scope & Sequence to externally mandated standards like the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). It supports schools that need to meet accountability requirements without compromising Montessori values.

✅ Key Highlights

  • CCSS Alignment (K–6): Developed with Tim Seldin and the Montessori Foundation, this precise mapping links Montessori lesson elements to Common Core standards for Language and Math.
  • Developmentally Appropriate: Reflects how Montessori students often meet standards earlier than traditional grade levels.
  • Cross-Curricular Coverage: Many standards are met through integrated, hands-on Montessori work.

? Support for Other Standards

We’re expanding support to include:

  • Select U.S. state standards
  • International and Canadian frameworks

You can also map custom standards to the Montessori Scope & Sequence within your own school’s account.

? Access & Availability

  • Full access to Common Core mapping is included with all MC subscriptions
  • Standards Mapping will be available in MC 2.0 by September 2025
  • Licensed for use within the Montessori Compass platform only
