Inviting parents and guardians to Montessori Compass gives families access to updates you share through the Classroom Share mobile app. This guide covers the full process — from adding a parent to getting them connected.
Step 1: Add a Parent/Guardian
- Make sure you are logged in as an Account Admin.
- From the left-hand menu, go to Parents / Guardians.
- Click the + Add Parent/Guardian button in the upper-right corner.
- Enter the parent/guardian's first name, last name, and email address.
- (Optional) Add a phone number.
- Select the student they are connected to and choose the relationship (e.g., Mother, Father, Guardian, Family Member).
- If needed, click Add One More Child to link the parent/guardian to additional students.
- Click Submit.
The new parent/guardian will appear under the Invitation Pending section.
Step 2: Send the Invitation
After a parent/guardian is added, they are placed in the Invitation Pending list. This allows you to build your database in advance and choose exactly when to send invitations.
You can:
- Click Send Invite next to a specific parent/guardian to send an individual invitation.
- Click Send All Invites to send invitations to everyone in the Invitation Pending section at once.
Step 3: Parent/Guardian Accepts the Invitation
The invited parent/guardian will receive an email with a secure link. When they click it, they will be guided through the signup process:
- Enter their personal contact information
- Set a password
- Accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
- Click Sign Up and Join
Once complete, they will move from the Invitation Pending list to the Active list in your account.
Step 4: Connect to the Mobile App (Classroom Share)
Once their account is active, parents/guardians will be prompted to download the Classroom Share mobile app:
- On a mobile device — tap the appropriate download link (iOS or Android).
- On a computer — scan the QR code with their phone to download the app.
They will log in using the same email and password they created during signup.
Note: Parents/guardians do not log in through a web browser. All parent access is through the Classroom Share mobile app.
What Can Parents/Guardians See?
Once connected, families can view any information you choose to share, including:
- Daily or weekly activity reports
- Classroom and student photos
- Direct messages
- Calendar events
- Bulletin board posts
This keeps families informed and engaged in their child's Montessori experience.
Tips and Troubleshooting
- If a parent/guardian cannot sign in, they can use the Forgot Password link in the app.
- If an invitation has not been accepted after several days, try resending it from the Parents / Guardians page.
- Each parent/guardian needs their own email address — shared email addresses are not supported.
- If a parent/guardian has children in multiple classrooms, they will see updates from all classrooms in a single app view.
